Students must apply with both Chattahoochee High School and the College before they may be approved to participate in the DE program.
Students MUST check their Fulton County Schools email account regularly for Dual Enrollment information. This email is: [email protected]. They can also login to their Microsoft Teams portal to see any new messages.
1 - Dual Enrollment Interest Form - Google Form
The link is available to all eligible students (rising 10th, 11th, 12th) through a Google Form: CLICK HERE for the 24-25 Dual Enrollment Interest Form.
Once this is completed, then the student will be added to the appropriate Microsoft Team corresponding to the college they intend to pursue for Dual Enrollment.
2. The Fulton County Schools (FCS) Dual Enrollment Contract.
Student will need to complete the contract and upload the signed version to Microsoft Teams. Do not bring in a hard copy. It needs to be uploaded electronically through your account. The updated contract for the upcoming school year will not be available until February 1. It is due no later than March 31. If a student plans to apply to multiple colleges, the student can list more than one college on the contract and needs to list that information on their Interest Form.
For the "Projected Student Schedule" section, please make sure to list all classes you intend to take at the high school and all classes you intend to take at the college for each semester. It should total six classes each semester.
Counselors will use this contract to complete your Funding Application and put "placeholders" in for your HS classes. However, if you do not officially register for a course at the college by August 1, then you will be placed back into the high school course and you will not be allowed to participate in Dual Enrollment for the Fall semester.
3- Apply directly to the college
Student is required to submit an application to the college by March 31. In addition to the application, there are additional materials that must be submitted. Please see additional info below.
4 - Dual Enrollment Funding Application -
A Dual Enrollment student must submit a funding application ONE time during the year in order to have their classes paid for by the state. This funding application is due by March 31st for Summer/Fall semester. Students will need to complete the funding application through www.gafutures.org. Make sure to complete the 2024-2025 application, not the previous year. If it is not listed on the Ga Futures website, please check back to see when it is released - usually not available until the first week of February. There is a parent portion that must also be submitted. Parents - please check your spam/junk folder for the link from GSFC if it does not come to you through your regular inbox. Here are directions on how to complete the funding application: DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO COMPLETE FUNDING
If a student is applying to more than one institution - Ga Futures says this:
A student completes 1 application per academic year and may select up to 10 colleges when completing the application. Or the student may add additional colleges (10 is the maximum) after the application has been submitted.
Watch a video about how to complete the Funding Application:
GSFC DE Funding Video
NO SSN? HERE'S WHAT TO DO (also watch the video above):
- When creating a GAfutures account profile, the student should leave the SSN field blank and proceed to the Dual Enrollment application.
- The student is then asked if they have an SSN, upon actively checking the box, “I do not have an SSN,” the student will be assigned a temporary ID#.
- The temporary ID# is sent back to the student’s GAfutures profile for use on subsequent DE applications.
5 - College Admission Steps - Complete Your Application File with the College
Besides the actual application, there are always additional materials that must be sent. The application is due by March 31st. All of the other materials are up to the student to complete on their own timeline, but the longer the student waits - the less likely the student is to get registered on time. We encourage all students to complete the process as quickly as possible. Students do have the ability to check their application status through the college. The High School does not have access to that information.
Students cannot register for classes until you are accepted and work through all the college processes. The student is responsible for keeping track of what is expected of them from the college. High school does not monitor this process at all.
6- Send your official transcript (if needed by the college)
Students should submit their college application first and THEN they can request a transcript to be sent. Transcripts are sent directly through the student's Ga Futures account.
Click here for "Requesting a Transcript" directions for Ga Futures.
For Ga Tech students - students are able to upload a copy of their transcript at the end of Spring semester. They can obtain a copy from Infinite Campus. Please wait until Spring grades have been added before submitting to the college. Transcripts are usually available the first week of June. (more directions below)
Ga Tech - TRANSCRIPT INSTRUCTIONS -
Students must upload a copy of their transcript with Spring semester grades. Go to Infinite Campus, Click on the Documents tab, download PDF of transcript WITH all Spring semester grades included. Students can only add this information AFTER the student has submitted their Ga Tech application. Students are sent instructions about the admissions portal once the application has been sent in. The portal is where the student will upload a copy of the Unofficial Transcript. It is NOT part of the application, it comes AFTER you submit your application. They do NOT need an official transcript and this has been confirmed with Ga Tech.
7- Send Test Scores - If Required
Students need to send test scores (ACT or SAT) to the institution, if required. These must be sent directly from College Board or ACT. The high school cannot send these documents.
There are additional testing options available but they differ from college to college. Please check each college's dual enrollment website for the specifics. Students should direct all questions regarding testing to the DE office at the college.
8 - Upload your class registration (college course schedule)
After a student is accepted to the college, the student may have additional hurdles to go through before being able to register. Once a student is able to actually register for classes through the college, then a screenshot must be uploaded to Teams.
The screenshot must include:
- Student Name (first and last)
- Name of the College
- Course Titles
- Location (online or in person - if in person, what time is the course)
- Semester
Common Course Options (chart below)
- This is not an exhaustive list. Please use the Course Directory for other courses. Just because a course is listed in the directory does not mean it will be offered by the college.
